About me

Gemma Smith, qualified Mountain Leader and trainee rock climbing instructor

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to climb mountains. One of my earliest memories is telling my parents that I wanted to climb Everest. While other children dreamed of becoming ballet dancers or firefighters, I was already drawn to high places, wild landscapes and the challenge of discovering what lies beyond the next ridge.

Since then, the outdoors has taken me to remarkable mountain landscapes in the UK and around the world. Those experiences have shaped how I plan adventures, manage changing conditions and help other people feel more confident in wild places.

I am a qualified Mountain Leader and trainee rock climbing instructor. I lead private guided hikes and practical outdoor skills workshops for individuals, groups and charities, with experiences shaped around each group’s confidence, fitness, aims and previous experience.

My approach is supportive, thoughtful and grounded in good preparation. Whether you are planning a first mountain day, building navigation skills or working towards a bigger objective, I want you to leave with greater confidence, useful knowledge and a genuine connection to the landscape.
